Mission Nava Disha (Contd.)
The training inputs were designed and facilitated by the Center for the Development of Human Initiatives (CDHI), an NGO running in Jalpaiguri district in collaboration with the Jalpaiguri Police, DRDC and West Bengal Horticulture Development Corporation.So far 207 KLO militants / linkmen surrendered, brought under this scheme, have been oriented and started their economic activities. Periodical counseling, one to one meet with SAPs, handholding have definitely brought new dimension in their life and have started main stream life. The following is the breakup of the SAPs who have been covered under "Nava Disha" so far.

Post training strategy
- Financial support to the tune of Rs.75.00 lakhs committed and offered under RSVY
- Institutional support to the tune of approximately Rs.68.75 lakhs offered
- Seventeen (17) women were supported under the program which includes jobs as ICDS workers, training opportunity in nursing, teaching and micro-enterprises suiting to their profile and needs
- On going program support through DIC, KVIC, SC /ST Finance Corporation etc dove tailed and delivered. The figure in the following table indicates that against. As is clear from the following table the RSVY support has attracted overwhelming support from other institutions and programs-Rs.75 lakhs/68.75 lakhs respectively.
- Program support to the SAPs has influenced the local youths to take positive initiatives in the field of entrepreneurship development and social reconstruction,
- NGO fine tuned government programs concurrently under implementation
- Local administration recommend for the withdrawal of cases on evidence of satisfactory post training performance and development of entrepreneurship
- The honourable chief minister of West Bengal Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee offered additional support for the rehabilitation of the SAPs in the adjoining districts of Darjeeling and Cooch Behar-indicating the ripple created by the project is expanding with adequate sensitivity of the State and the popular government of West Bengal and most importantly
- Several of the hard core SAPs showing inclination to join the mainstream-a good news for the peace loving people
