SERICULTURE SCHEMES
Traditionally popular with the ethnic tribes like the Ravas, the Mech, and the Garos of this district, Sericulture as an occupation however has never been able to rise above the subsistence level for various reasons. RSVY therefore had the reason to intervene in the sector with various innovative measures to assist, motivate and encourage the poor tribes to take up sericulture activities as a viable and lubricative venture. The scheme includes (i) Augmentation and Maintenance of Eri Host plantation, (ii) Construction of Eri rearing house, (iii) Construction of Mulberry rearing house, (iv) Development of Grainage facility for quality Eri Dfls. and (v) Human Resource Development. The total sanction in this sector is Rs. 1,84,82,692/-.
